Focus on the essential: your eyes

One of our most crucial senses for an autonomous life is our vision. Regular eye examinations ensure that eye diseases can be detected early and treated conservatively.
Surgical interventions are usually necessary when, in the case of certain eye diseases or serious refractive errors, other therapies are no longer effective.

A team of specialists and experienced experts is at your side for the clarification and implementation of surgical eye procedures.

We provide the following medical services in our eye surgery outpatient clinic:

  • INITIAL CONSULTATION AND ANAMNESIS
  • DETAILED EYE EXAMINATION
  • DISCUSSION OF THERAPY OPTIONS
  • SURGERY PLANNING
  • SURGERY PREPARATION AND CLARIFICATION
  • FOLLOW-UP CONTROL

Eye surgery with foresight

At the ATOMOS Clinic Währing, eye surgical procedures are performed for a variety of diseases. The most common are treatments for cataracts and glaucoma. Of course, a thorough examination of the eyes always precedes clarification. The ATOMOS Clinic Währing has medical-technical equipment that meets the highest modern standards.

CATARACT

Cataract is a lens opacity. The operation to treat this condition is now the most commonly performed surgical procedure in ophthalmology. The treatment is very effective and can usually be done on an outpatient basis without any problems. The principle of the operation is always the same: The clouded lens is removed and replaced by an artificial lens (intraocular lens). Only one eye is operated on at a time. If the other eye is also affected, the procedure can be performed at a later date. The operation takes 20 to 30 minutes.

GLAUCOMA

Glaucoma refers to a group of various eye diseases where the optic nerve is gradually destroyed. Glaucoma is the second most common cause of blindness and is usually caused by increased pressure inside the eye. If it’s not possible to control the eye pressure with medication alone, glaucoma can be treated with laser surgery or an operation, where surgical intervention can achieve a greater reduction in eye pressure. The most common form of glaucoma surgery is trabeculectomy. In this procedure, which takes about 30 minutes, a small piece of the sclera and iris is cut out to improve the drainage of the aqueous humor.
